Meet the Captains of PD SELF Detroit Team
Brian Cooper
Brian is currently employed at Residential Home Health where he works as a therapy mentor with a special focus on Parkinson's Disease and management of Dementia. He has been an active volunteer with the Michigan Parkinson's Foundation (MPF) for more than 10 years and has been a member of the organization's professional advisory board for five years. His professional interests include geriatrics and management of Parkinson's Disease. He is LSVT Big and PWR certified with a special interest in the benefits of exercise in the management of Parkinson's. Brian received a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Wayne State University.
Steve Femminineo
Steve is a former Electrical Engineer in the computer networking field and a retired High School Math teacher. He also has coached football and hockey. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2008 and was a member of the Young Onset Parkinson's Disease (YOPD) support group for 7 years. He is now the co-moderator of the Downriver PD Support Group. Steve has participated in a number of clinical trials including two drugs that have successfully made it to market: (Apokyn and Rytary - in fact, he was the basis for a Rytary Spotlight - video, and text). Steve has been an active volunteer for the Michigan Parkinson Foundation and consistently one of the top fundraisers for the Steve is an avid amateur photographer with a particular interest in landscape and birds of prey (www.stevefemphotos.com). He and his wife Rose have two adult sons. and they all have been very supportive on this journey.
