Tell Your Senators They Must Support Parkinson's Research Funding
Members of Congress regularly circulate letters to their colleagues asking them to vote a certain way or support a specific program. These are called "Dear Colleague" letters. Currently, there are three "Dear Colleague" letters of importance to the Parkinson's disease (PD) community in the Senate.
The three letters ask senators to provide funding for:
- A national Parkinson's database, which will help researchers better understand the disease and who is living with it,
- The Parkinson's Research Program at the Department of Defense, which investigates PD risk factors associated with military service, and
- The National Institutes of Health, which is the largest public funder of PD research.
